Welcome to my home: Cape Town 🇿🇦

What a week it has been. As President of Skal International Cape Town, it was a true honour to welcome Skål members, tourism professionals and friends from around the world to our incredible city.

Cape Town has always been a place where people come together – and over the past few days, we saw that spirit come to life. From new friendships to meaningful business connections, it was a celebration of everything that makes tourism such a powerful force for unity and progress.

One of the highlights was our Skål International WTM Africa Dinner, hosted at the Cape Sun in partnership with Skål International South Africa.

Over 200 delegates joined us in the heart of the city for an evening of connection, celebration, and recognition – including the presentation of the Skål International South Africa Awards.

We had the privilege of welcoming SkÃ¥l International World President Denise Scrafton to Cape Town. Originally from Melbourne – one of Cape Town’s twinned cities – her presence was a beautiful reminder of the global friendships and partnerships that define SkÃ¥l.

We were also honoured by the presence of several distinguished guests and dignitaries, including representatives from our tourism and diplomatic community, and delegates from across the African continent and beyond.

We closed the evening with the Twinning Club Toast with our newest twin club – SkÃ¥l International İzmir in Türkiye – led by Past President Dawn Smith and Onur Türkay – marking a new chapter of international friendship and collaboration.

We also welcomed two exceptional young leaders, supported by the Skål Cape Town youth programme. Developing the next generation of tourism professionals is a core focus of our club, and it was a privilege to share this platform with them.

The evening truly set a standard of elegance and warm hospitality. My heartfelt thanks to our incredible Skål International Cape Town committee for supporting my vision and helping bring this special night to life.

To all our members and guests: thank you for bringing the world to Cape Town. I hope you leave inspired by the spirit of Skål: friendship, opportunity, and shared passion for global tourism.

Skål!

Skål International Cape Town President
