OCTOBER NEWSLETTER

To the Awesome Members of the Best Club in the World,

Our last newsletter started with “Igniting our Young Skål professionals and the future of Tourism in not only the Western Cape but across the globe.” The second of our Young Skal Initiative Workshops was on 30th August hosted at The Diamond Works and evolved into an incredibly inspirational morning for the Tourism students.

We hosted a panel of industry leaders addressing the future tourism professionals, namely Aimee Lentz, Chris Godenir, Jeff Rosenberg, Jenni Vermaas and Lee-Anne Singer. The messages from the speakers although diverse, covered all manner of topics but so inspiring and motivational.

Happy Birthday Anne Lamb

September saw the Celebration of our Matriarch and Membre d’Honneur– Anne Lamb’s 90th birthday. Thank you to Niel Els, Carol Bayne, Jamie-Lee Ackerman and Aimee Lentz for all the effort in making the occasion special, heartfelt and memorable.

September Lunch Networking Event

RHEBOKSKLOOF WINE ESTATE

Every now and then it’s a great idea to sit back and enjoy this beautiful place we call home. That was part and parcel of the event held at Rheebokskloof in September. We jumped on shuttles from various pick-up points and for a change just relaxed and actually had the time to notice and appreciate our surroundings. We do live in a glorious city!  As it seems to have become the norm in our Club, inductions took place at this event as well – we are thrilled to welcome our newest members.

A message on Training and Education for succession from Past World President Lavonne Wittman

Training and education in an organisation are crucial for several reasons

1. Skill development: Where members acquire the necessary skills and knowledge of Skal International to enable them to implement the membership benefits more effectively in their businesses and also share these benefits with potential new members.
2. Adaptation to change: Ongoing training ensures that members can adapt to new technologies, trends in the industry and organisation processes.
3. Members Engagement: Investing in Members development shows that the organisation values its members, as engaged members are more likely to be motivated and committed to the organisation.
4. Retention: Members are more likely to stay with an organisation that invests in their success and knowledge.
5. Competitive Advantage: A well informed and trained membership can lead to innovation, a platform to share expertise, knowledge and experience, better membership engagement and more visibility of our organisations membership benefits, which would increase membership gain and retain.
6. Leadership Development: Training within an organisation can identify and nurture leadership potential within the organisation ensuring a successful and effective succession plan.
7. Improved Morale: Training and Education can boost membership morale and lead to a positive membership culture.

The Training and Education Committee of Skal International offers a vast array of discussions via the podcast platform as this method can be accessed on demand, allowing members to learn at their own pace and schedule. This flexibility is particularly useful for busy individuals or those in different time zones.

Podcasts can reach a large and geographically dispersed audience, making them ideal for Skal international. Podcasts ensure that all members receive the same training content and message consistently reducing the risk of misunderstandings and variations in training quality. This self paced learning is engaging and informative and allows our members to digest and understand the content thoroughly. While listening on their smartphones, tablets or in the car. Focused intention in everything we do turns into successful outcomes if we allow the time and effort in these tasks.

The Training and Education committee have worked together as an effective team to share their knowledge, talent and experience with the global membership discussing relevant topics in our organisation.

Our KNOWLEDGE THROUGH INSPIRATION Podcasts can be found on the Skål App: ATTEND, LEARN, ENGAGE & GROW.

Our team look forward to sharing our knowledge and time with you…Let’s get informed!
