The last event for 2024 was a stunning occasion – our members certainly don’t need encouragement to dress up and look dazzling. Thank you to Pieter, Maryke and Team from Lagoon Beach for an amazing venue and first class catering.

A huge thank you to Ruvarashe “Rue” Zimuto for her dedicated efforts with the Skål Cape Town club. I’m incredibly proud of her involvement on the global Skål stage, especially her focus on increasing young Skål participation at North American congresses and the 2026 World Congress in Peru.

Last note from the President

To my Outstanding Committee, it’s sure has been a fun ride!

Thank you for the unending support, not a single thing would have been achieved without your heartfelt enthusiasm and unfaltering Dedication to this organisation.

With a sigh of relief I am sure you are all going to miss the 11pm Whatsapps and last minute changes. That said, a few of the achievements for 2024:

• We won Club of The Year as well as President of the Year at the WTM event.
• One of our own – the Aquila Collection once again walked away with an International Sustainable Award.
• We came second by only 11 votes for Club of The Year Internationally.
• 7 Cape Town members attended the International Congress in Izmir
• The Twinning with The Izmir Club at Congress – with the endorsement of Alderman James Vos.
• The online Cape Town merchandise store was launched.
• The Club annual notebook is now the second edition for 2024.
• The International Tourism Day celebrations, an event founded by Skål Cape Town saw it’s 3rd year.
• Our annual Workshop is one of the most successful Industry Business events and the feedback from this year was once again overwhelmingly positive.
• The TWO sponsorship amounts to the value of 580 euros each to assist with Study fees from Skål International as well as the pledge of R 20 000 from our Club towards Graduate students at CPUT’s studies.
• We are still the largest Club in SA and our membership has increased year on year. To date, Cape Town is the 2nd largest Club in Africa!!!
• We have initiated in conjunction with our Australian Twin Clubs the blueprint for an exchange program for Young Skål Professionals & Students.
