My opening line was going to be: Winter is fast approaching – but I think we can safely say that ship has sailed. I do hope everyone is keeping warm – but still busy.
The invitation for the lunch in June at Karibu has gone out to all members and it would be wonderful for as many of our members to attend as we are very honoured to have Enver Duminy, Cape Town Tourism CEO as our Guest Speaker.

The early exhibitor catches the table – to reinvent a phrase – if you are interested in taking part in the annual Skål International Cape Town Workshop – please make contact with Carol Bayne as soon as possible as I know we are filling up fast.
After being voted 3rd best City in the World by the Sunday Times, a few days later, Cape Town was ranked the second best city in the world to get married in by Daniel Christopher, one of the top jewellers in London.
The good news seems to be rolling in with no sign of ending for the Tourism Sector.
“Wesgro announced that ships 108 to 295 meters in length, carrying between 100 and 2 500 passengers are booked for the upcoming season into the Port of Cape Town.”
“Virgin Atlantic is the latest airline to announce it will be relaunching its direct flight service between London Heathrow and Cape Town International Airport. Set to reopen in November. The flight service is said to take-off from 5 November 2022 and will operate daily flights between Cape Town and the UK.”
And as per usual, when there is a Tourism celebrity in town – they are always entertained by one of our Skål members: the City Sightseeing red bus hosted Sir Richard Branson on a trip around Cape Town.
In other news, The Aquila 24 Hour Rapid Rhino Response team under the guidance of the Saving Private Rhino organisation confirms that the calf that was birthed from the surviving poaching incident rhino is now orphaned and cared for at a Western Cape rhino orphanage. Click here to read more.
