Skål Cape Town Partnered With The NSRI (National Sea Rescue Institute)

Community and Tourism Are One!

At Skål International Cape Town, we firmly believe that community and tourism are inseparable – one simply cannot thrive without the other. A successful visitor experience depends on the well-being, safety, and pride of our local community, and a thriving community is fuelled by the opportunities created through responsible tourism.

In September, our Cape Town club proudly partnered with the NSRI (National Sea Rescue Institute) to install a Pink Rescue Buoy along our coastline. These bright pink buoys are part of a nationwide NSRI drowning prevention initiative, placed strategically at high-risk swimming and coastal areas to provide immediate flotation support during water emergencies – and have already been directly responsible for saving many lives across South Africa.

Cape Town’s shoreline is one of the world’s most breathtaking natural settings – attracting locals and visitors alike. Yet with its beauty comes responsibility. Through this initiative, our members demonstrate the shared duty we have in creating a safe, welcoming, and sustainable environment where everyone can enjoy our city’s natural spaces responsibly.

This is just one of many ways Skål International Cape Town continues to engage meaningfully with local partners and organisations – strengthening the link between community and tourism and showcasing that both must work hand in hand for our destination to flourish.

Doing business among friends means doing good together.
