To The Awesome Members of The Best Club EVER

First and foremost – I would like to thank every single one of the Cape Town Skål members for their contribution toward winning the Skål South Africa Club of The Year award for 2023.

This award belongs to the Cape Town Club – that is each and every single member that without realizing it contributes via raffles / sponsorship / visibility / paying of membership subs / participation and enthusiasm. The criterion for winning the award is not just a great video – there are very strict rules and criteria that need to be fulfilled for a Club to even enter as running for the award. Thank you to each and every one of the Cape Town members for your incredible loyalty and dedication to this amazing Club we are a part of – SKÅL CAPE TOWN!

Secondly to the unbelievable Cape Town Committee – President of The Year would not have happened if not for my Vice Presidents – Johan & Aimee our Committee members, Carol Bayne, Anne Lamb, Colleen Rens, Kevin Robinson, Mandi Jarman, Imike Crouse, Martie Malan and Karin Schmidt. It would be hugely remiss of me not to mention the incredible contributions made by Louise Rohner, Nicci Fourie and Heinrich Herboth for the time and effort they put into the Club and its activities in 2023.

I know as members you arrive at an event, sponsor amazing prizes and do what we do best – Business amongst Friends. But the amount of work, time, effort, and dedication that goes into running a Club of this size and stature is no mean feat. The events, ongoing activations and collaborations don’t just happen – it takes a group of very passionate individuals to put it all together. So, to the fabulous Cape Town Committee – my heartfelt and unending gratitude!

I am incredibly humbled and flattered to have been the recipient of these very prestigious awards, I cannot describe the overwhelming emotions. Thank you to all of you!

Networking Event at Silvermist Wine Estate

We had a wonderful time learning how to play the drums with Drumstruck, and enjoyed a fabulous wine tasting session hosted by Wine Maker Gregory Brink Louw. The Drumstruck show is a one of a kind event and a must see for locals and visitors alike.

Challenge Accepted

We have accepted a challenge to have at least 50 South Africans at the Congres in Izmir 2024. I don’t think anyone can fully understand the magnitude and reach of the Skål International network until you have attended an International Congress.

Skål International Day Celebrations

The Glen Clean Up

Skal International Cape Town celebrated Skal International Day in collaboration with Love our trails and South African National Parks.

Love our Trails is an environmental organisation committed to protecting nature, with a goal of building a trail culture that encourages people to get out in nature.

The organisation arranged a volunteer clean up of The Glen trail which has been compromised with destitute inhabitants, litter and crime, with the support of local crime prevention and SANparks the area was secured, and inhabitants relocated. The Love our Trail volunteers and Skal International Cape Town club came through and cleared waste and litter. CPUT students completing their final year of Tourism & Hospitality qualifications joined to volunteer their time to making a small difference to restoring the natural beauty in The Glen area.

A very special note of thanks to Beiersdorf– NIVEA who gifted suncare products in appreciation to all the volunteers dedicating their time to such an amical cause.

Living up to values with time dedicated to our community, our natural environment and our future industry.

Thank you to the incredible individuals who made this day possible.
