On 23 September 2026, Cape Town’s tourism community came together aboard the Mirage Catamaran to celebrate World Tourism Day — an afternoon of connection, collaboration and investment in the future of tourism.
With the Atlantic Ocean as our backdrop, tourism professionals, industry leaders and friends from across the tourism and hospitality sector gathered to celebrate the people who continue to shape Cape Town tourism and South African tourism.
The afternoon created an opportunity for industry professionals to connect, share conversations and strengthen relationships across the tourism value chain.
Investing in the Future of Tourism
The celebration also had a purpose beyond the day itself. Funds raised will contribute towards Tourism Management bursary subsidies, supporting students pursuing careers within the tourism industry.
Two CPUT students also joined the celebration and shared their experiences of being in a space with established tourism professionals. Their reflections highlighted how valuable industry exposure, networking and access can be for young people preparing to enter the tourism and hospitality sector.
Their presence was a reminder that supporting the future of tourism means creating opportunities for the next generation to connect with, learn from and become part of the industry.
A Special Thank You
A sincere thank you to The Diamond Works, Cape Town Tourism and Mirage Catamaran for supporting our World Tourism Day celebration and helping us create an afternoon that brought the Cape Town tourism community together while contributing towards future tourism talent.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, supported the event and helped make the afternoon one to remember.
World Tourism Day is about celebrating tourism, but also the people, connections and opportunities that will shape its future.
